Q: How do you view playing time?

We pride ourselves on creating the best environment for the mental and physical growth of our athletes. Manageable roster sizes and competitive tryouts have helped us to build teams in which roster members are put in positions to contribute and thrive. It is important for us to ease athletes from equal playing models into the more competitive playing models that they will experience in high school and college. For this reason, Tri-State coaches adhere to the following…

From 3rd to 5th grades, playing time is even.

From 6th to 8th grade, we start to introduce our athletes to more competitive play. Depending on the event, coaches will play athletes more based on their ability to help Tri-State have success. In playoff games, Tri-State looks to maximize overall time by playing the athletes who will allow the team to continue through the tournament.

Upon entering high school, playing time will be subject to the discretion of the coach.

Q: Who would coach my team?

Depending on the team that your son or daughter is looking to be a part of, you may find practice times, coaches, dates, and locations on the team tab listed under “All Stars”.

Q: Can I play Tri-State and another sport?

We encourage our athletes to play multiple sports. We also recognize that conflicts and the overloading of player schedules is counterproductive and, at times, unsafe. We believe that the most important factor in making such decisions is allowing your child to do the thing that they love.

Q: Will my rec program conflict with Tri-State?

Tri-State believes that rec serves a valuable purpose as a “teach all” environment. We actively make every attempt possible to avoid rec conflicts.

Q: What events does Tri-State compete in?

We are passionate about creating the best growth environment for our athletes. This means that we meet the kids at their current ability level. For our most skilled teams, we participate in the most competitive events in the country. For our developing teams, we choose events that our competition appropriate and keep cost and travel in mind.

Q: How do you select your teams? When are tryouts?

Teams are selected by program directors. The initial tryout dates occur in mid-July. Following the initial tryouts, we will hold a series of supplemental tryouts in mid August. The best opportunity to be selected for a team will be at the first round of tryouts.
