Tri-State Girls All Stars Information Page

ALL STAR PROGRAM – Grades 5 – 11

The Summer 2018 All Star program marks our 18th year in girls club lacrosse, making us the oldest girls program in the NJ. We know girls lacrosse, and are at the forefront of the constantly evolving game. We have helped hundreds of girls pursue distinguished high school careers, as well as realize their dreams by playing lacrosse at the college level (click on the Alumni List button).

We attribute our success to great families, a high quality coaching staff, and an environment that is intense on the field, but fun off the field, focused on building self-confidence and team values in young women that translate into superior life skills later on. At Tri-State, we strive to create a family culture; many of our current families and coaches are alumni. Countless former players tell us some of their very best memories are their years playing for Tri-State. We are proud of the program we have built, and the value we deliver:

  • Outstanding instruction, with head coaches comprised of HS Varsity and college assistant coaches, as well as high DI players
  • Constantly updated curriculum based on the USLacrosse Athlete Development Model (LAPD) as well as the latest trends in girls lacrosse
  • A minimum of 15 practices
  • Team Websites featuring detailed practice and game schedules, reminder and last minute change notifications, all available via mobile app

  • Continuous implementation of LaxPrep, a research-based USLacrosse-developed dynamic warmup designed to prevent lower extremity injuries

ALL STAR LITE PROGRAM – Grades 3 – 5

Our LITE program delivers the best of Tri-State’s dynamic curriculum, adjusted for a younger age group, without the complications of tournament competition. There is a strong emphasis on fun and teamwork; our goal is for our LITE players to fall in love with the culture of lacrosse, and the game. Our LITE program is perfect for those just starting out, or for those multi-sport athletes who want to try lacrosse without pressure.

We leverage our size to stage several playdays throughout the season with teams from our other regions, so that our LITE players get some opportunity to play against different players without having to stay overnight.

  • Age-appropriate, outstanding instruction, with head coaches comprised of HS Varsity and college assistant coaches, as well as high DI players

For 18 years, the Tri-State Lacrosse Girls All Star Program has been dedicated to developing strong, confident young women who happen to be great lacrosse players!  We are the oldest girls lacrosse program in New Jersey, and have helped hundreds of players exceed their potential, and go on to stellar high school and college careers.  Please contact Sue Montegari with any questions at suemontegari@trilax.com.

PHILOSOPHY

Tri-State Lacrosse has provided female players with the highest quality learning and developmental environment available for over 18 years.  Our mission is to develop our athletes into strong, confident young women who happen to be great lacrosse players. As a result, many of our athletes go on to distinguished high school and collegiate careers.

Unlike other programs, we embrace multi-sport athletes, and try to work with each player so that they can continue to progress in lacrosse while gaining the well-documented benefits of participating in other sports. Those athletes wishing to play lacrosse in college, however, will have to commit to a short fall recruiting season freshman, sophomore and possibly junior years in addition to the summer tournament season.

Also unlike other programs, we offer optional training and conditioning programs throughout the year to allow athletes some down time, but pursue the higher levels of our sport should they desire.

For our middle school players, we take a very different approach than other programs. Our goal for middle schoolers, especially those younger than 7th grade, is for them to fall in love with the sport, and develop solid fundamentals in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. We deliberately limit the number of tournaments our middle schoolers attend, but provide the option to add one or two more for the really motivated player. Thanks to our size, we often combine players from our various regions to compete together. We believe there is plenty of time to train more rigorously, and travel to overnight tournaments once they reach high school.

HISTORY

Tri-State Girls Lacrosse has provided players with the highest quality learning and developmental environment available for over 18 years.  Our first Girls Program Director, back in 2000, was Meredith Elwell, when our program was based in North Jersey. Meredith hired our current Director, Sue Montegari, shortly thereafter, and Sue assumed the Director position in 2008. Under Sue’s leadership, the program has grown by leaps and bounds, serving well over a thousand girls in the NJ/PA/NY area across 3 locations, with hundreds of all-league, county and state players, and sending hundreds on to play collegiately across all 3 NCAA divisions plus WCLA.
