Tri-State Lacrosse features the area’s best coaches. They have been selected based upon their knowledge of the game and their ability to instruct the players. We have a number of coaches that work with us year-round and several that join us for the Summer All Star season.

Sue Montegari | Girls’ Lacrosse Director
Sue Montegari was a part of the original Varsity squad as well as a 3year starter and team captain at Ridgewood High School. Sue is also a very established equestrian competing at high levels of competition in the Medal/Maclay Division, including the Junior Olympic Trials. She continued her careers at Alfred University as a 4 year Lacrosse starter and team co-captain, graduating with a BA in Athletic Training and a double Minor in Coaching and Equine Science. Sue was also on the AU Equestrian Team for 4 years competing at the intercollegiate level in the Open Division. Sue was also part of the Athlete Mentor Program as a Senior. After College, Sue went on to coach at her alma mater,Ridgewood High School as the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach and theJV Head Coach for the 6 years. Sue was the Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach at Ramapo High School from 2009-2011, 2012-2013 a 3/4th grade coach for Mahwah Girls Youth and is has just been named the Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse coach for Immaculate Heart Academy, NJ. Where she took them to their first season (11-9) since 2010. Sue was named after just her first spring at IHA, 2014 Bergen County Coach of the Year, 2014 All Suburban Coach of the Year, and 2014 The Record Coach of the Year. In addition,she become a Certified Personal Trainer and worked as a Strength andConditioning Specialist for the past 10 years working with athletes thathave attended and competed at the top Institutions in the country. Sue started with Tri-State in 2002 primarily working with the all star program. Over the past years her role in the Girls program increased into Assistant Girls Director. Her responsibilities have included on-site director for Northern Leagues,Camps & Clinics Director and All Star coach. In Fall of 2008 she was named Tri-State’s Girls’ Lacrosse Director.
Christie Shore Cooper | All Star Coach
Christie Shore-Cooper is a 2004 graduate of The College of New Jersey. Christie was a two sport athlete at TCNJ and earned a degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Sociology. A 2004 IWLCA/US Lacrosse Division III First Team All-American, and First team All-Metro Region member, Shore-Cooper was the heart of her teams defense, leading the Lions with 66 ground balls and 36 caused turnovers, in her senior season. During Shore-Cooper’s four years with the women’s lacrosse program, TCNJ amassed 62 wins against five losses for a .925 win percentage. While at TCNJ, the Lions finished twice as the DIII national runner-up (2002, 2004) and twice as a DIII national semifinalist (2001, 2003). A Division III Lacrosse North/South Senior All-Star (2004) and a two-time NCAA Lacrosse All-Tournament Team member (2002, 2004) Shore-Cooper had eight stellar seasons with the Lions, making three appearances at the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Final Four (2001, 2002, 2003), two appearances at the NCAA DIII Lacrosse Final Four (2001 2003), and two appearances at the NCAA DIII Lacrosse National Championship Game (2002, 2004) Christie is the Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Pennsbury High School (2014 -present)
Ginny Capicchioni | Goalie/All Star Coach
A world-class keeper in her own right, Capicchioni is a trail-blazing lacrosse player and a gifted educator. After starting the game of lacrosse in college, she became the three-time Northeast Conference Goalie of the Year at Division I Sacred Heart University. Capicchioni twice ranked in the NCAA’s Top 10 in Save Percentage, while setting the program records for saves, goals against average and career wins. Following her collegiate career she became the first woman in North America to sign with a men’s professional team, the first woman to play in a men’s professional lacrosse game, the first American born keeper to play in a Canadian Lacrosse Championship, and the first woman to play for a men’s national team in any sport. After playing with the New Jersey Storm of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), she began her 9 year career in the Canadian Lacrosse Association. Capicchioni’s Canadian experience includes Awkesasne Warriors on Cornwall Island, Ontario (ILA); the St. Clair Storm in Sarnia, Ontario (OLA); the Windsor Warlocks in Windsor, Ontario (OLA Major), the Windsor Aigles (QLL) in Windsor Quebec; the Island Redmen (ILA) on Cornwall Island, Ontario; the Mad Mohawk in Cornwall, Ontario (ILA), and the last two years with the Coquitlam Adanacs in Coquitlam, British Columbia (WLA, Major). 2010 brought yet another statement in the Capicchioni’s career, being named to the USA World Team. She competed in the 2011 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships (Prague, Czech Republic) and compiled an overall 93% save percentage for the tourney. Capicchioni is currently signed with the Kentucky Stickhorses in the NALL (North American Lacrosse League), who play in the prestigious Freedom Hall (Louisville, Kentucky). The inaugural 2012 exhibition season had Kentucky finishing with a 5-1 record. Capicchioni coaching career has includes three years at Drew University, three years with Tristate lacrosse, a year at Immaculate Heart Academy, and a year at Bergen Catholic High School. Her list of goaltending clients has grown exceptionally long, and includes girls’ field lacrosse goaltenders, boys’ field lacrosse goaltenders, and indoor lacrosse goaltenders. Capicchioni gained a BS in Political Science from Sacred Heart University. She further attended Loyola College, and attained a Master’s in School Counseling.
Lex Haarmann | Assistant Girls All Star Director
Lex Haarmann is a Ridgewood Alumni ’04, she was a 4 year Varsity letter in basketball and team captain as well as played 2 years on the lacrosse team (JV and Varsity) until injuries ended her career her junior year. Lex began coaching with Tri-state 8 years ago. She coaches our summer all-stars as well as assists with camps and clinics throughout the year. She is currently the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Immaculate Heart Academy High School in Washington Township, NJ. Lex is a graduate from The University of North Florida ’08 where she earned a degree in Physical Education as well as participated in many club sports such as, flag football, beach volleyball, soccer, basketball, and softball. Lex also works at The Children Therapy Center, Midland Park, NJ. For Tri-state Lex is the Director of Camps and Clinics since 2010 and the Assistant Director for NJ All Stars.
Tierney Conlon- Director of Camps & Clinics| All Star Coach
Tierney is a Tristate Alumni ‘11 and has joined us and is now the Tristate Girls Director of Camps and Clincis, she is the current Assistant coach at Montclair State University her Almater and where she was a 2 year Co-Captain for Montclair State University (2014, 2015). Tierney’s has an impressive list of accolaides. She holds the NCAA DIII Career Assist Record Holder (247 Assists), Montclair State Record Holder for Career Points, Career Assists, Single Season Points, & Single Season Assists. Tierney is a IWLCA DIII National All-America 2013,2014, 2015, IWLCA DIII 1st Team All-Region ,2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, NJAC & Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year 2012, NJAC Offensive Player of the Year 2013, 2014, 2015, Skyline Player of the Year & Championship MVP 2012, MSU Most Outstanding Sophomore Athlete of the Year 2013, and Lax Magazine Player of the Year Nominee 2015, member of the IWLCA 2015 North South All Star team.
Kate Murphy | All Star Coach
Kate is currently a senior at Georgian Court University (GCU) where she is majoring in Exercise Science with a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy. Kate has been a significant contributor for the defense of the Division II Lions. Following her first season with GCU she was awarded the team’s Most Improved Player (2013). This past year she was inducted into Georgian Court University’s chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma (National College Athlete Honor Society) and was named to the 2014 IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Roll.
Prior to college, Kate was a 3-year starter for Freehold Township High School. As a senior captain and 4-year member of the varsity, Kate helped solidified the defense for the Patriots as they won the Shore Conference “A-North” Division title four consecutive years. A 2-time Defensive Player of the Year for Freehold, Kate was named All-District and All-“A North” Division her junior and senior years as she led the Patriots in caused turnovers and interceptions. A 3-year member of Tri-State’s 2010 Black Team, Kate was named All-Galaxy in 2009.
Combined with her playing days, Kate has been part of the Tri-State family for eight years. She is currently the Head Coach of Tri-State’s 2017 PA team. Kate has also coached the Central Jersey Lacrosse (CJ Lax) Middle School Girls Team (based out of Freehold, NJ). Kate expanded her knowledge by completing her U.S. Lacrosse Level I and II Coaching Certification.
Melissa Conlon- All Star Coach– Melissa Conlon graduated from James Caldwell High School in ’09 where she played three years of Varsity lacrosse and served as captain in her senior season. Melissa played for the Tri-State All Stars all through high school and now enjoys being on the other side as a coach for the Summer All Star program and various camps and clinics throughout the year. She is a 2013 graduate from The College of New Jersey where she earned her degree in English Education and received the 2013 NJ Distinguished Student Teacher Award. While at TCNJ, she played one year of Varsity lacrosse and three years of club lacrosse. Melissa currently teaches 6th grade English at William Annin Middle School in Basking Ridge, NJ and is also the Varsity Assistant Coach at James Caldwell High School in Caldwell,

Nicole Kyopta – Rutgers ‘17. Four-year letterwinner for Indian Hills … holds the Bergen County record for career goals, netting 331 … set the Indian Hills record for most goals in a game (nine) and career goals (331) … first team all-league and all-county selection as a senior … named the No. 25 overall recruit by ESPNRise as a junior … selected First Team All-Bergen County and all-league in 2012 … finished her junior campaign as the No. 1 goal scorer in North N.J. and No. 8 in the state with 105 scores … selected Second Team All-Bergen County, first team all-league and was named the All-Suburban Girls Lacrosse Sophomore of the Year in 2011 … received first team all-league and all-county honorable mention in her rookie season also lettered in basketball and swimming

Gabriella Vinci– Tufts ’19, Was on the basketball, soccer and lacrosse teams at Immaculate Heart Academy…on the team that was National Soccer Coaches Association of America Champions in 2014…was selected as an Under Armour All-American in 2014…was an Academic All-American in 2014 and 2015….was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society.
Tara Cassidy– Dickinson ’19 Former Soccer and Lacrosse player at Immacualte Heart Academy. Academic All American, All League and All County Honors
Meghan Herbert– Penn State ’18
Kelly Holt – Fairfield ’18 Holt comes to Fairfield after lettering four seasons at Villa Walsh Academy where she competed primarily as an attack for the Vikings. Holt helped the Vikings own a 14-6 overall record in her final campaign, where she recorded 29 goals and 10 assists. Throughout her career, she tallied 41 goals and 15 assists. As a senior, she garnered All-League Freedom Division Second Team accolades and in 2013 she was a Brine High School All-American. Holt also earned three varsity letters in winter track
